We're In!

Now begins the all box unpacking! It's been a long day, and I'm tired, but our place is HUGE! I can't believe we lasted so long in the other place, it was so small! I'll post some pictures soon, but it's wonderful to be home!

T-Minus 30 Minutes

Even as I sit here at work typing this (hey, I've got to do SOMETHING while I sip my first cuppa), Bubba is at home patiently awaiting the arrival of the movers. They are supposed to arrive sometime between 8 and 9. We got up this morning and finished packing the very-last-minute-stuff, like the sheets and comforter and bathroom stuff. Bubba gets to stay home today and mess with the movers because he gets a free day off due to the fact that his office is moving today, too! So, neither of us had to take a vacation day, which is great, as we like to save them for truly important things. Like vacation. Let's just hope Bubba makes it through today without too much ado. He tends to worry about things like this.

Anyway, when I go home this evening, it will be to a new home. Woo hoo! No more walking by the ugly trash-building or dealing with that nasty hill! Yeah!

Does Your Engine Rev?

I'm a Chevrolet Corvette!

You're a classic - powerful, athletic, and competitive. You're all about winning the race and getting the job done. While you have a practical everyday side, you get wild when anyone pushes your pedal. You hate to lose, but you hardly ever do.

Take the Which Sports Car Are You? quiz.

Not Sure How I'm Going To Make It

I finished the 6th installment of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince on Friday. My God, that is some fantastic reading! That J.K. Rowling is one talented lady! I must say that I'm hooked. Well, I was since the first book, but this is by far her best, in my humble opinion. I have not gotten so emotionally involved in a long time. So I don't exactly know how to spend the next few months waiting for the 7th book. Any ideas?

Have Any Boxes?

We are officially in move-out mode. With the lease signed, elevators in both buildings reserved, and movers lined up to arrive, it is time to begin the most dreaded of all things....packing. However, I tend to look at packing in a fond way. Unpacking, too. I know, shocker to most people who respond to this news with a quick intake of breath and a look of horror on their faces. But it appeals to my anal/retentive nature to make everything orderly. I like to be the BEST at packing up boxes. Making use of the right boxes and finding the best size-to-weight ratio for the kitchen boxes. And unpacking is just an excuse to re-decorate a room in a demented sort of way. You can make totally new decisions like which book-shelves to place which books on (by category? by author? by owner?) and whether you should re-organize your kitchen. And taking everything down to actually do all of this is not a problem, as it's already all down anyway!

Bubba and I managed to get more than half of our apartment packed up this weekend. I'm tired, but in a satisfied way. I have a feeling of accomplishment. A feeling of satisfaction. A feeling that we will run out of boxes. I have been hoarding boxes from everywhere, as it seems an absolute waste to pay for something that people leave out on the curb in large bundles for the trash-man to take away every other day. Like they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure.

One more note....we have TONS of books. I'd say half of the boxes so far are of books. So next time you are at Casa de Barron, feel free to check out the latest paper-back (that's mostly what we have, as it's easier to tote around all day and read on the subway) from your favorite author. We probably have it.

Movin' On Up

We got a new apartment yesterday! After a stressful day of trying to get in touch with our current landlord to see if she'd let us out of our 26-month lease (what happened to 24?) scott-free, she finally called back, let us out, and we submitted our application last night to the realtor! NY real-estate is ridiculous, and how you go about getting a new apartment can turn out to be a full-time job, so having it all work out leaves you basking in the glow of your success. Either that, or the glow is caused by the copious amounts of money and background checking required to just get in an apartment in the first place. Regardless, it's a done deal! We sign the lease next week and will move the end of this month! Yeah! No more terrible hill (the only one in Manhattan, I swear) to walk up and down every day. This, my friends, is reason enough to hassle with moving.

More on the new apartment later....

I don't think I'm that desperate

ET just reported that Richard Simmons has 2, count them TWO, new aerobics DVDs out in time for the New Year. Stop me before I get off my butt and run out to buy them! Maybe when they hit the $1 rack....
