Enough Is Enough

I am tired of hot weather. Bubba and I both are.

Yes, I realize that I am from Texas, and should be used to 90 degrees in September. But I lived for 3 years in a place that claims to have actual seasons that correspond roughly with Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. I don't mind summer at all, in fact it's great! And hot weather in July and August is to be expected, heck, enjoyed!

BUT!!!

90 degrees in September, especially in late September, is just ridiculous. I am REALLY tired of not being able to take Drew outside from 10am to 7pm. I'm sick of putting off things I'd like to do in the yard 'until it gets cooler,' because as we all know, yard work is not really something you can do in short, separate periods of time; you have to commit to it for a few hours. Not really conducive to having an infant that shouldn't be out in the hot weather for that long.

Not only that, but I'd love to be able to sit outside in the evening while we grill or something and not sweat through my t-shirt. Gross, I know.

And, and, and!!!

Our electric bill is atrocious! I know we live in an old, inefficient house with lots of old, single-pane, original windows, but it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so bloody hot outside!

I'm going to go take a cold shower now.

I feel your pain...on all of it. I also feel teased with the fall that was happening in Boston. I'm so desperate that these last couple days of lower humidity (with still high temps) had me excited.

Yes, it is torture to hear them say how nice the weather is in NYC on GMA and Regis and Kelly. Torture.

I'm going to leave the comment here that Bubba liked to leave on my blog when I complained about Texas:

"MOVE!"

I sat inside for the three whole months I was on maternity leave because at first it rained and rained and then there was more rain. And after that it was HOT!! I'm looking forward to cooler weather so I can pull the weeds that have been ther since before Ainsley was born and I can actually take her outside.

The four seasons of South Texas were explained by a local radio personality earlier this summer.

"You see, we've got almost summer, summer, still summer, and February."

We've finally made it to still summer in College Station. I make it to the bus without sweating through my t-shirt now. Good times.

Thanks, pigs, we've thought about it.

I will say that if we couldn't complain about the weather, no matter where we are, what in the world would we have to complain about?

When living in TX and LA, I'd always recall the weather breaking for the first time around my birthday (sept 27th). Maybe 15 years and global warming has pushed back that date.

I do recall you griping about the frigid weather in NYC right before you moved. You went from NYC winter to a few weeks of TX heavenly 70s to the oven of summer. You'll be loving it in January.

Last time me and Wes were in Houston, I pointed out to him how no one ever says that hell would be cold or dark. My point was that when I get in heat like that, it can feel like a punishment! I feel for you girl. Maybe instead of worrying about the fence and the weeds you mention a few posts after this one, you can put in a pool! Then you can float around and drink cocktails while Bubba barbeques!
